Acquisition-Ready Growth.
BoardBookIt | Govenda
Board governance SaaS platform serving corporations and nonprofits.
BoardBookIt was a SaaS company operating in the highly competitive board management and governance software market, serving corporations and nonprofits with complex compliance and governance needs. I joined as VP of Marketing and Growth with a clear mandate: scale demand, strengthen the commercial engine, and position the business for acquisition.
The company entered the engagement with strong product fundamentals and executive alignment around growth. I was given broad latitude, budget flexibility, and executive access to build the systems needed to support both revenue expansion and strategic interest from potential acquirers.
My focus was building a predictable, scalable growth engine across the full funnel. That included demand generation, lifecycle programs, trial adoption, and conversion optimization, all tightly aligned with Sales, Product, and Customer Success. Messaging, targeting, and funnel structure were rebuilt to support trial-driven growth and recurring revenue.
As these systems came online, performance accelerated. Lead generation programs contributed to 3× sales growth and 2× annual revenue growth. Visitor-to-MQL conversion increased more than 490% year over year, while sustained lifecycle optimization drove a consistent 16% month-over-month lift in lead-to-trial conversion. In parallel, an organic growth engine was established, increasing qualified traffic more than 200% month over month over a twelve-month period.
During this period, the company received multiple acquisition offers from established competitors in the board governance software category. While those offers did not ultimately meet the valuation expectations of leadership and were declined, the work succeeded in creating real strategic interest and optionality for the business.
Following my departure due to location constraints and the company’s in-office requirements, the business rebranded as Govenda, continued product development, including the introduction of AI-enabled capabilities, and was later acquired by Passageways OnBoard.
This case study reflects executive-level B2B SaaS demand generation and acquisition positioning strategy for private equity and high-growth environments.
